I decided not to go out to play today...
|
and after I saw my regular boat head out ...
I was pretty sure it was a good decision.. |
and I was happy to give you all a new perspective
on the sport of
surf -sailing...
It tends to start with boats on the beach... bravely facing the waves
warriors show off their injuries....
mates help mates
boats are rigged and ready..
BOM sites are viewed, wind strengths discussed, surf measured,
and the first brave men head out...
some on a whim and a prayer...
while others check their progress
it was wet, it was wild, it had to be done!
some went in pairs,
it was tough hanging on..
some were hard to handle..
made easier with team work...
No Worries!
Could it be this hard?
I guess "YES"
Dipping and diving ..
Timing the waves
Ready to
|
soon there were many..
climb aboard while you can..
hang on and ride it out..
Plow through it, if you can..
everyone needed a hand
some chose to sail another day... but helped everyone else out
David headed out..
some were beached
there was so much going on ...
it was hard to know ...
which way to turn..
Did I mention wet!
Yes.. launching the boat for the rescue /camera crew...
the helpers were having to swim..
Great job Dieter... !
until the beach was almost deserted...
still... an army of trolleys
and a few quick repairs to be done ..
maintenance crew on the job...
a running start....
up on the board. .oops!... boat.!
and away for a start...
they tell me " it wasn't too bad out there....
.. the leaders heading for the rounding mark..
a casualty of the action...
it was lumpy and bumpy..
playing out with our friends...
it was lonely onshore...
but busy off shore with General recall, general recall... last chance...
and AWAY!
until suddenly they were heading back in ...
trolley teams waiting ...
a constant incoming stream...
a bit more wind action...
everyone running to grab trolleys and boats..
sunny smiles ...
some a mite confused!!
boats planted...
awaiting assistance...
A huge TEAM effort!
