Wind and rain overnight, gusts to 33 knots , calming to a reasonable 16 knots by lunchtime.. it looked messy and bumpy, and 6 boats stayed ashore, but the rest of the fleet headed through the surf to get on with it!
the adventure ride of the event is on the Zodiac...
getting out there is getting old!
there was less joyous running ...
and more " just do it"
some colours stand out..
others are trim and neat..
everyone is getting tired...
crossing swords
Olly kept going ....through surf and swell..
... go for the thrills and the spills
and the shore crew wait.....
the action looked something like this...
hiking out,
spray and bumps along the way.
the lead chopped and changed..
there were wild rides..
and learning curves..
there were still smiles to be had..
.. some were serious...
some played the angles
others the transits..
it wasn't as bad as it looked from shore..
it was colourful..
frantic at times..
but if the sky was dull,
the hulls had colour
the back drop spectacular
plenty of grunt
and possibly groan..
and if it was wet out there.. the coming home was just as tough
the surf washed them all in...
the shore crews came running ...
it was mates for mates..
a day well spent..
the last walk..
and the last boats in..
